Greenpeace

Greenpeace is an organization created in 1971.
Their goal is to make the world aware of the serious issues that are making the planet a dangerous place to live. They battle issues such as the threat of global warming, destruction of ancient forests, deterioration of our oceans, and the threats of nuclear disaster. Below are some pictures of the many issues that they work on.
Greenpeace's mission is to protect the planet by making the world aware of the destruction that we are causing. Greenpeace is a great organization and many universities across the United States are taking action.

Interesting Fact:
"It takes 90 years to grow a box of Kleenex? That's right, every time you use a Kleenex tissue, you are blowing away ancient forests. And every time you use Scott or Cottonelle toilet paper, you're flushing old growth trees down the toilet." (Greenpeace organization)

    Become a Vegetarian.. WHY?!

The factory farming system of modern agriculture strives to maximize output while minimizing costs. Cows, calves, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, and other animals are kept in small cages, in jam-packed sheds, or on filthy feedlots, often with so little space that they can't even turn around or lie down comfortably. They are deprived of exercise so that all their bodies' energy goes toward producing flesh, eggs, or milk for human consumption. The giant corporations that run most factory farms have found that they can make more money by cramming animals into tiny spaces, even though many of the animals get sick and some die. They are fed drugs to fatten them faster and to keep them alive in conditions that would otherwise kill them, and they are genetically altered to grow faster or to produce much more milk or eggs than they would naturally. Many animals become crippled under their own weight and die within inches of water and food

    Laurel,

Although I didn't choose greenpeace as my organization of choice, it does sound like a great organization that has nothing but good intentions for the environment. The extra info on the kleenex was very interesting :)

    Laurel,

I was amazed by what the people at Greenpeace accomplish. I could never do any of it. I admire how they put their own persons at risk to support the causes that they believe in.
